We are Stu Gibbons & Ken Robertson two ex Household Cavalry soldiers who whilst serving with the Household Cavalry Regiment had the opportunity to visit battlefield sites on motorcycles.Probably one of the best ways to visit these sites and of course some great riding and some fantastic routes. We have continued to carry out battlefield tours since leaving the forces with the Household Cavalry Motorcycle Club (HCMCC). In the past we have visited as a club Normandy, Nijmegan, Anzio, Monte Casino, Zandvoorde, Colditz, Aushwitz, Zagan (The Great Escape), Menin Gate, Rolica, Vimiero, to name a few. Although this years trip may not be based around battlefields I'm sure we will find some of course, we aim to live off the bikes for most of the 25 days we are out of the UK sometimes in camp sites but mostly camping in what we hope will be in some of the remotest areas we can find.We are sure this is a good option but will never rule out a good hotel if required.

This year due to most members being unavailable to go on any battlefield tours, Stu and Ken are embarking on our most adventourous tour to date, visiting 14 countries in Europe and hopefully raising awareness and money for the The Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance. Please click on The Route to find out more about where we will be going.Whilst we are away we will be keeping a diary so when we arrive back all you will have to do is to click on the national flag of each country and the story shall unfold, mileages, costs etc all the information we think which could be useful to know if or when you would decide to carry out a similiar trip.

This year the bikes we will be using are the BMW R1200GS & Stu will ride the BMW R1200GS Adventure we will also add a page when we do get back on the bikes performances. When we do get back later on in the summer we will also be attempting the Iron Butt challenge SS1000 this is a 1000 miles in 24 hours in the UK. The SS100 standing for Saddle Sore 1000 miles a great challenge for all keen long distance motorcyclists.
